Sean Smolenyak, O.D.
Dr. Sean Smolenyak is a native of Great Falls, Virginia. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia, and received his Doctor of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2001. Since then Dr. Smolenyak has specialized in the medical management of eye diseases. His interests include dry eye disease, conjunctivitis, uveitis, ocular emergencies, macular degeneration and glaucoma. He also works closely with local physicians to help manage diabetic patients.
Dr. Smolenyak also has extensive experience in the post-operative management of cataract surgery. Working closely with Dr. Kelly, he ensures patients receive the most optimal result possible.
Dr. Smolenyak is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the North Carolina State Optometric Society. He routinely attends medical education symposiums to ensure that his patients receive the best and latest management in ocular disease. In recognition of his extensive experience, Dr. Smolenyak is also asked to lecture to other eye doctors throughout the Southeast on the topics of dry eye, glaucoma, and advanced cataract surgery technology.
Dr. Smolenyak lives in North Raleigh with his wife and young daughter. His personal interests include following UVA athletics, antique and muscle collector cars, and spending time with his family and friends.
Dr. Smolenyak is available to see patients in the Brier Creek and Wake Forest locations.
